Welcome to the Junior Pursuits website. We hope you enjoy browsing through our range of outdoor gear from birth to teens. Junior Pursuits is a family company, inspired by the arrival of many small friends and relatives. This highlighted to us the need for quality outdoor gear in junior sizes, and we found that it’s out there, but hard to find.
Maybe you already enjoy the outdoors as a family, or perhaps you’d like to start. You could be an active couple expecting a new arrival, or have older children planning camping trips or D of E expeditions. Whoever you are, we want you to be confident that the younger members of the family are as well equipped as the adults.
We have carefully selected suppliers who specialise in quality outdoor equipment, because you should be able to expect the same standards that you would from adult gear. We feel this is of upmost importance, as there can be times outdoors when quality equates to safety.
Young children, especially if they are not walking, can get cold very quickly. We recommend layering clothes, starting with base layers and finishing with waterproofs, and what you don’t need on at the start you should take with you. Appropriate footwear and the right socks can make or break a day out.
For information, a good place to start is the Mountain Rescue Website, where they suggest decisions should always be governed by the weakest member of the party, and in the case of a family, this is most likely the youngest. Please follow their advice, even if you are experienced.
